Abstract
Antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are common drugs with diverse and frequent skin manifestation. Several cutaneous adverse effects such as morbiliform exanthems, systemic hypersensitivity reactions, lipodystrophy, pigmentation changes, and injection site reactions have been reported with the use of antiretroviral agents. We herein report on an interesting case of lentigo-like pigmentation localized on palms and soles induced by antiretroviral agents. A 45-year-old man who had been treated with antiretroviral agents; efavirenz (Stocrin¨Þ), lamivudine (3TC¨Þ), abacavir (Ziagen¨Þ) for one month due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) developed multiple discrete asymptomatic brown macules on his palms and soles. The skin lesions were slightly aggravated with the continuous antiretroviral therapy after the period of 5 month followup.
